Elsebråne Retreat Center, Sweden

Elsebråne Retreat Centre is situated on a small hill in the middle of some of the most beautiful settings in the world. Close to the famous “Skærgård” of Southern Sweden and next to a wonderful nature reserve where lakes, forest and old farm land goes hand in hand. There is a 600 metre long lake, 27 degrees Celsius most of the summer, a public sauna, marked footpaths, and thousands of species of trees, flowers and animals.

The farm itself was rebuilt in 1844 and is surrounded by forest. When we obtained the farm it was in ruins. In 2006 we started the Herculanean task of restoring the 6 buildings in keeping with its character and tradition. You could say it is still a ruin, a museum over past farm life in what was then Denmark, but it is one of the most quiet and beautiful places on earth. Everybody who comes here feels the magic of nature and its healing powers.

It is a place for deep contemplation, for finding ones true Self. It is not about modern comfort because there is only little of that. Cycling and walking:

“Blekinge Leden”, a 350 km long path, passes by Elsebråne. It is the most beautiful setting for walking or cycling, mostly forest. 

Getting there

By airplane via Copenhagen Airport:

Travel from Copenhagen Airport to the venue by train:  There is a direct train link to Karlshamn leaving every hour during the day (2,5 hour, Euro 35; You can book your train ticket on www.sj.se There is a tap for English language setting at the top left corner. ).

From Karlshamn station you can take a taxi (about 20 minutes ride, about Euro 35). You can also take a bus to the Elsebråne Bus stop (Elsebråne vsk, busnumber Länstrafiken Buss 370), and walk for last couple of kilometers (euro 3).

By car:

The easiest way is to just follow the E22 towards Karlsham. Just outside Karlshamn turn left onto Road 29, signposted towards Växjö. Follow Road 29 for about 10 km and turn right at the sign for Elsebråne, and right again. At the end of the road; it is the yellow farm house coming up. after 150 m then on the left. It’s a 2,5 h drive from central Copenhagen.
